NRF 2025: What to look for at Retail’s Big Show

It’s January, which means it’s time to kick off the year with NRF. In a few days, retailers from around the world will gather in New York City to discuss industry trends, explore emerging technology and make connections.

Emerging trends

  • Navigating AI: As in recent years, AI and machine learning are still prominent topics; retailers are curious about how AI continues to change and shape the market, how they can use AI for increased data insights and how generative AI is shaping corporate marketing practices, among other things.  
  • Creating customer-centric experiences: As consumer behaviors change, retailers want to know how to stay abreast of shifting demands, whether that’s offering new ordering and payment methods, shifting business practices to favor sustainability or differentiating through customer experiences. Marketing is also a key topic for retailers, with a focus on better communicating a brand’s purpose and creating content that actually translates into sales.  
  • Optimizing staffing practices: Labor and talent are also top of mind for retailers, who seek to balance cost-consciousness with excellent customer experiences.
